Sophie

Sophie is a junior from Highland Park, Illinois, with a passion for trying to make the world a better place. Sophie is the Founder and Managing Director of Cycle Forward, an organization that provides access to sanitary products for under-resourced women and teens, and attempts to raise awareness and de-stigmatize menstruation, something that she notes is long overdue. So far, Sophie and Cycle Forward have distributed over 41,000 tampons and pads to women and girls in need in the U.S., England, India, and Haiti, while advocating for menstrual equity whenever she has the opportunity. In addition to her passion for ending period poverty, Sophie is deeply committed to the idea of international exchange as a means for students of the world to better understand one another. Sophie has lived as an exchange student in Japan, and this summer will be on exchange in Spain.

My HERlead Project: CYCLE FORWARD HIGH SCHOOL OUTREACH

My HERlead Project will increase the number of menstrual products going to women with financial restrictions through donation drives, information sessions, and partnering with organizations to raise awareness and education around these issues.
