Emerson is a sophomore at Patrick Henry High School in San Diego, California. She is passionate about increasing the representation of women and minorities in STEM. She founded and serves as president of Represent in Math & Engineering (RIME), a student-led organization dedicated to promoting underrepresented groups and first-generation engineers in STEM fields. Through RIME, she launched STEMpower, an inspirational guest speaker series encouraging high school students to pursue careers in STEM by connecting youth with role models in STEM industries. Emerson also enjoys writing, and her work has been recognized by the Society of Women Engineers (SWE), EngineerGirl, and the American Society for Human Genetics. She has also received the STEM in Action Award from SWE for her work increasing diversity in STEM education.
