Makayla

Makayla is a sophomore at Canyon Crest Academy in San Diego. She is passionate about journalism, politics, and social justice, which is why she started Revolution Now Magazine: a political digital magazine written by teens who want to change the world. As the editor-in-chief of RevNow, Makayla manages a staff of 13 young writers from all around the globe. In the future, Makayla hopes to use the skills and connections she’s gained from the HERlead Leadership Forum to turn RevNow into a multimedia news organization and create a RevNow original documentary about how the criminal justice system handles sexual assault cases. When she’s not editing articles or revamping the RevNow website, you can find Makayla trying out new coffee shops and daydreaming about world domination.

My HERlead Project: LAUNCHING REVNOW VIDEOS

My HERlead Project will expand my online magazine, which provides teenagers with an outlet to learn about political and social issues and resources to create change in their communities. Through my project’s online platform, we create entertaining and fun content that that can be consumed in a way that is informational and easy to understand.
