Gia

Gia is a sophomore at Saint John’s School from Gurabo, Puerto Rico. She is passionate about using technology to make a difference in her community. She is the founder of Girl Innovations, whose mission is to close the gender gap in tech. Her role as program leader is to teach and mentor young women about technology and empowering them to be confident, solve problems with technology, and share knowledge with others. As an aspiring Biomedical Engineer, her goal is to make a lasting contribution to society through innovation. Gia enjoys musical theatre, sailing, and travel. She is most excited to learn about leadership and public speaking at the HERlead Forum. In addition to technology, Gia is passionate about helping Puerto Rico with recovery because Hurricane Maria escalated Puerto Rico’s financial chaos into a humanitarian crisis. In Puerto Rico, she is known as “la chica del app” (The App Girl).

My HERlead Project: GIRL INNOVATION

My HERlead project will increase girls’ participation in the field of technology. I will administer workshops and mentoring services that introduce middle school girls in Puerto Rico to programming, robotics, and cybersecurity.
