Lia

Lia is a junior at The TASIS School in Dorado, Puerto Rico. As a future biomedical engineer, she is enthusiastic about designing ways to help those in need. Lia works in her school’s FabLab, designing 3D printing tools to help communities impacted by natural disasters and to address environmental issues. In the weeks following Hurricane Maria, Lia designed a portable shower head that attaches to a soda bottle and her ultimate goal is to make this a part of a hygiene kit that will be distributed to people in need. She also founded her school’s Animal Alliance Club to work in conjunction with local rescue groups. Lia was awarded the National Junior Honor Society Outstanding Achievement Award in 2018.
